This year at SupplySide West, Yadim Medore will join a panel of experts for a workshop addressing the challenges biotechnology poses in communication and use in finished goods. The workshop will educate the audience on what’s happening in the market and how they can make business decisions that align with their values and target consumer through four sections:
- Section 1: Defining Biotechnology What do we mean by “biotechnology” and the terms that encompasses. Offer the lay of the land and the definitions of problems that the market is looking to solve through the array of technologies. This will cover both how things are made and the applications of the tech. (Speaker: Tim Avila, Systems Bioscience)
- Section 2: Regulatory Considerations The landscape is continuing to shift in terms of labeling requirements on a federal, state and even local level. The terminology is evolving and marketers must understand how to get and remain not only compliant but transparent. (Speaker: Brandon Griffin, Ingredient Identity)
- Section 3: Ingredient Sourcing & Formulation Companies are pioneering new ingredient production techniques to solve market problems. What are some of the technologies being developed, and how do they fit within the broader context of the “natural products” industry? What are the questions to ask when evaluating ingredients and suppliers? (Speakers: Leena Pradhan-Nabzdyk, Canomiks; Michael Krohn, Unit Head, BioActives & Performance Biologicals)
- Section 4: Defining & Delivering on Your Brand Promise Companies must define their own brand promise and how that aligns with the target consumer. This can guide not only product development, but the types of questions to be asked during sourcing and in ingredient selection. This section includes insights from the newest Pure Branding market research report, The ROI of Transparency. (Speaker: Yadim Medore, Pure Branding)
